People on the trail stopped and stared.
A mother monkey burst from the trees, clutching a tiny baby against her chest and sprinting faster than anyone had seen before. Leaves flew behind her. Branches shook. Other monkeys scattered out of the way.
“Why is she running like that?” someone asked.
At first glance, it looked chaotic.
Some thought she was frightened. Others assumed she was being chased. A few visitors even reached for their phones, convinced they were about to witness something dramatic.
But then one observer noticed something everyone else had missed.
